Hula Kiʻi Youth Exhibit
June 6, 2025 — July 31, 2025
Special Exhibit
In partnership with Capitol Modern, the non-profit Hula Preservation Society (HPS) unveils a new Hula Kiʻi Youth Exhibit. The exhibit features the work of the Papa Hana Noʻeau class (10th grade) of Hālau Kū Māna New Century Public Charter School. Hula Ki'i is a lesser-known form of hula that involves the use of a carved or crafted image in the dance. HPS brought the foremost Hula Kiʻi carver in the world, Kumu Auliʻi Mitchell, to Hālau Ku Māna to introduce students to this rare genre of hula and storytelling.
On view through July 2025.
